From the Track to the Garage: The Passion Behind My Roadster®

A passion for cars rarely begins in a catalogue. It starts with the sound of an engine, a silhouette glimpsed at the side of the road, a Grand Prix watched as a child or a car you promise yourself you will own one day. For me, it grew through Formula 1, Monaco and those moments when mechanical precision meets emotion. That passion is also part of the story behind My Roadster®.

Formula 1 is far more than a spectacle

Formula 1 brings together everything that makes the motor car fascinating: speed, of course, but above all preparation, teamwork and the pursuit of detail that can transform an entire weekend. Behind a few visible seconds on track lie hours of analysis, adjustment and movements repeated until they become instinctive.

That culture is what draws me in. Not every Formula 1 technology transfers directly to a road car, nor does it need to. What travels from one world to the other is a way of approaching the machine: observe it, understand it, maintain it and respect the engineering.

Monaco: seeing precision at close quarters

The Monaco Grand Prix remains an experience unlike any other. The circuit is narrow, the barriers are close and the changes of rhythm are constant. Television shows you the difficulty; being there makes you understand the force of the acceleration, the brevity of the braking zones and the concentration required on every lap.

The entire city changes character. Familiar streets become a racetrack, buildings amplify the sound of the engines and the atmosphere extends far beyond the race itself. For an enthusiast, Monaco is not simply a result on Sunday afternoon. It is complete immersion.

Opposite the pits, at the heart of the preparation

My favourite vantage point is in the grandstand opposite the pits. From there, you can watch the teams, the procedures and the intensity of the preparations while retaining a view of one of the circuit's most dramatic sequences.

The cars leave the Swimming Pool section, accelerate over a distance that seems impossibly short, then brake for La Rascasse. Between passes, your attention naturally returns to the garages: engineers studying their screens, mechanics ready to react and precise movements around the cars. This is where the human dimension of racing becomes visible.

The drivers beyond the helmet

Monaco also creates encounters that stay with you. I have been fortunate enough to meet Romain Grosjean, Martin Brundle and Kevin Magnussen. A few minutes can give a very different perspective on people you usually know through a screen or a timing table.

A driver's performance is measured by the stopwatch, but it also depends on the ability to start again after a mistake, work with a team and remain clear-headed in an environment where everything happens at extraordinary speed. That resilience is one of Formula 1's most inspiring qualities.

From the track to the cars we love

Our cars are not single-seaters, but the attachment they inspire can be just as powerful. A Porsche 911, an Alpine A110, a Boxster, a sports car, a convertible or a youngtimer often carries a personal story: a long-awaited project, a memory, a reward or simply the pleasure of driving differently.

Motor racing influences road cars in many ways, but above all it reinforces a simple truth: lasting performance depends on care. Proper mechanical maintenance, thoughtful bodywork care and suitable storage matter more than grand declarations.

To continue that story, our feature on the evolution of the Porsche 911 explores how one distinctive architecture has been refined across generations without losing its identity.

Memories that give My Roadster® its meaning

The photographs with Romain Grosjean and Martin Brundle are more than Grand Prix souvenirs. They represent years of enthusiasm for cars and encounters that helped shape the My Roadster® project.

The brand grew from that closeness to the cars we genuinely love. Not only those that impress through power or value, but the ones we look back at one last time before switching off the garage light.

In the garage, the passion continues

When the car returns to the garage or an enclosed parking space, the story does not stop. Clean bodywork is still exposed to dust, minor everyday contact and movement around the vehicle. A suitable indoor cover helps preserve its presentation without hiding its character.

That is precisely the role of the My Roadster® Stretch™ indoor cover. Its stretch fabric follows the lines of the car, while its soft inner lining protects the bodywork in a covered space. It turns the simple act of covering a car into one final gesture of care before the next drive.

From the track to the garage, passion takes different forms, but it always begins with the same respect for the car. That is the spirit we want every My Roadster® cover to express.
